An oven door is one of the few kitchen handles a newly standing toddler can reach before they understand heat. The concern is not only opening a hot oven during cooking; it is also pulling on the door after baking, when exterior glass and metal can stay warm and the door can become a tempting step.

The Baby Proof Me oven lock adds a physical pause point. It does not make the cooking zone child-safe by itself, but it reduces one specific access path while adults keep using the oven normally.

Fit matters more than brand claims. This rotating-latch style needs a flat appliance surface, a compatible gap between the oven body and door, and enough room around nearby knobs or trim for the latch to move. Measure before relying on it.

A two-button adult release is useful because it is harder for toddlers to imitate than a simple flip tab. Heat-resistant plastic and strong VHB-style adhesive are helpful, but the exterior mounting location still needs to stay within the product's normal-use range.

Install only on a cool, clean oven face. Cooking residue is often invisible, so wipe the area with a degreaser or isopropyl alcohol, let it dry fully, then press the adhesive pads firmly in place.

Give the adhesive a full 72 hours to cure before tug-testing the lock. If your oven has a self-clean cycle or the latch location gets noticeably hot, remove the lock or avoid that cycle rather than assuming the adhesive can handle extreme heat.

Families with a crawler, cruiser, or toddler who has started pulling on appliance handles. It is especially useful in compact kitchens where the oven handle sits in the child's normal traffic path and adults cannot keep the whole cooking zone gated off.

This lock does not address stove knobs, hot pans, appliance cords, or access to the oven controls. If the oven face is curved, textured, greasy, or too warm near the latch area, a physical kitchen barrier or a different appliance setup may be more reliable.
