NestProof started when Stevie made our familiar home feel brand new.
We are Greg and Kate, two parents who suddenly found ourselves looking at coffee tables, cords, cabinets, and corners very differently. Baby-proofing was not one big weekend project. It was a new lens on the place we already loved.
Our Story
After Stevie was born, the ordinary parts of our home started to look different. The coffee table edge, the loose cord, the cabinet under the sink, the outlet near the floor - all of it suddenly mattered in a way it never had before.
Like a lot of new parents, we wanted to do right by her, but we were also tired, busy, and figuring it out as we went. We spent nights reading, comparing products, asking what was actually worth doing, and learning that the most useful advice was usually the calm, practical kind.
We also learned that baby-proofing is full of little decisions that sound simple until you are standing in the aisle or staring at your own living room. Do we need corner guards here? Which cabinet locks are worth it? Is this outlet cover annoying enough that we will stop using it? We wanted help that felt closer to a thoughtful parent friend than a scary checklist.
NestProof came from that season. We wanted one calm place to keep track of what we were learning, make it easier to think room by room, and share it with other families standing in the same room asking the same question: what should we handle first?
Then our friends started having kids too, and we realized we were not the only ones feeling this way. The same questions kept coming up in texts, weekend visits, and quick conversations: what did you use for cabinets, did you anchor this, how worried should we be about cords, where do we even start?
This is personal for us. It is part baby-proofing notebook, part product research, and part “we wish this had been easier to find at 10 p.m.” We are still learning too, and the goal is to make the process feel a little less overwhelming for the next family.
Why we made NestProof
